Learning how to play DragonRealms can be a pain though after you finish with the basics you can start learning the advanced concepts; this is fun! Advanced concepts which are included in DragonRealms are not going to be explained in this guide but you can E-Mail me and ask me about any advanced or intermediate question that you need to ask. I will be coming out with a advanced and intermediate guide to DragonRealms guide fairly soon. This is about the basics that you need to know to survive in the monsterous land of Elanthia.

Now that you have been acquainted with the main idea that will be explained in this guide, we can now get on to the more important stuff. To start off you start out by choose a sex and a name and that is up to you though....you may want to make your name short and fairly easy to remember and type. This will make it easier for people to give you things, look for you, make friends with you, but most of all it will make Empaths lives much easier. Empaths are the healers of the realms if you didn't already know, and they live in heart of the lag (slowness) of the realms. After you choose a name it is time for you to pick your race. You may want to look at my information on races document in the Miscellaneous section of this website. This is forthcoming so for now you will have to find it elsewhere, may I suggest the message boards or somewhere on the DragonRealms website. Now as you may know there are seven races. There are certain races you want to be depending on your profession so therefore you should look at around for info on the races. Now that you have chosen your race you should choose eye color, hair color, hair style, and all that stuff you can pick for yourself.

You have now chosen your characteristics for the game. Now this is a guide for mainly fighting guilds at the moment though even empaths need the same equipment as fighting guilds during your first couple of days. Alright next we have to go join a guild. Choose between the professions of,

Trader

Thief

Cleric

Bard

Empath

Barbarian

Warrior Mage

Moon Mage

Rangers

and I think that is it. Now all you need to do is choose one and to find out about each profession just click on the about profession link on this page. So you walk to the empath guild lets say. Now <join guild> <join guild> now I personally would stay around for his little talk. Now you may want to <ask leader about magic> to see if you get magic unless your a Barbarian, Thief, or Trader who don't have any magic.

Now, you have joined the guild...What do you do now...? Well you should first of all go train in some of the following...you first put in <inf> this will tell you your stats. To find out what skill you would want the most for your profession click on the, about professions link at the bottom of the page. You have trained and are ready to begin your life in Elanthia.  I would go to the armory and buy some armor no matter what profession you are. You might want to start out with some leathers which will protect you fairly well. Now you will be in debt no matter what so you buy things you need. For armor I would buy a leather helm, a leather breatplate, some leather gloves, a leather aventail, some greaves and vambraces if you can and there you have your basics for hunting and protection when going through hunting areas. Now if you are a fighter go to the weapons shop and get a weapon.  You should pick one type of weapon you want to use. a good one to start with would be medium edge, and a good weapon for that is a Broadsword. This is good for all your needs when you are a beginner. If you are a Ranger get a Longbow or Composite bow to get good with. If you get a bow buy some ammo and I would recommend barbed arrows. Even if you have a bow have a spare blade with you, just in case. If you are a thief get a crossbow and train in that. This is only a suggestion remember you don't have to do this.

You have your weapon now what do I do? Go to the general store...by a backpack to carry your things in. This is very important and if you don't have one of these your are in trouble. Buy a sheath also to carry your weapon in. Now that you are all set, stick all your extra money in the bank. To find directions to the bank put in <dir bank>. It will tell you the directions and then follow them. You can abbreviate directions just with a w for west or n for north, s for south, e for east, se for southeast etc. This will make traveling much easier. Now that you are at the bank <deposit all> which will deposit all your money into the bank. Whenever you wish to withdraw it put in <withdraw amount>. Now the currency should be in Kronars. Okay, you have all your stuff and money away, now try this, go make a friend or two. If you don't have a friend your a dead man. Make a friend and don't be mean. Try to be kind and be good-hearted. When you make a friend hang out with them, get to know them. Once your know them well enough, but be sure not to get out of character and stay with the time period, go ahead and hunt with them.  I would recommend trying the rats first, and if he is skilled enough maybe ask him to take you to the goblins or musk hogs, you probably would fair fairly well against them if you had somebody to monitor you as well as fight with you. The rest is up to you.  I cannot get you to do any of this but I hope you will.
